The victims were shot while playing dice in the driveway of a home on Fennell Avenue

A man and woman were wounded in a shooting in Valencia Park Friday night, police said.

According to the San Diego Police Department (SDPD), just before 9:30 p.m., the victims were playing dice in the driveway of a home in the 6000 block of Fennell Avenue when they were approached by a group of unknown suspects.

One suspect pulled out a gun and fired several shots at the man and woman, striking both in the lower body. The group then fled the scene on foot.

The victims were taken to a local hospital with unspecified injuries, but are expected to survive, police said. Victims and witnesses provided no further details to investigators. A suspect description was not released.

Following the shooting, investigators discovered shell casings on the street and evidence of gunshots to some vehicles in the area. At least two cars when struck with bullets, police said.

No one else was hurt in the shooting.

The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information should contact Crime Stoppers at (888) 580-8477. At this time, this shooting does not appear to be gang-related, the police department said Saturday.
