1 Dead After Car Plunges Off Pine Valley Bridge: Cal Fire

Witnesses say the vehicle showed no signs of slowing down as it turned off the road way. NBC 7’s Dave Summers is at the scene of the crash with more information.

One person has died after their car plunged off the Pine Valley Bridge on Interstate 8, Cal Fire officials said.

The crash happened shortly after 3 p.m. Thursday on Interstate 8. The location of the crash is approximately 44 miles east of Downtown San Diego in Pine Valley. 

Footage from the NBC 7 Chopper showed a mangled red car sliced in half at the bottom of the ravine, at least 50 feet from the top of the bridge. 

Cal Fire officials have not provided details on how the crash happened. 

No other information was immediately available.
