San Diego County's New Equity Metric for Reopening

Black, Latino, and Pacific Islander communities have all had higher rates of COVID-19 transmission. Now, in its ongoing monitoring of COVID-19 cases across the state’s counties, California will pay attention to something called the “equity metric,” which addresses testing positivity rates in disadvantaged areas, making sure those rates don’t exceed a county’s overall rate.
