Ward Should Play Despite Knee Injury

by JJ Cooper

After sitting out most of the AFC Championship game with a knee injury, Hines Ward vowed that he would be back to the Super Bowl, or as Ward put it in a post-game interview: "I don't plan on missing this game."

Barring a unexpectedly bad MRI report, it appears that Ward will be good to his word. The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette is reporting that the initial diagnosis is that Ward has slight MCL strain in his right knee. An MCL strain is about as "good" as a knee injury can get, and it's hard to see how Ward won't figure out a way to be out there in two weeks.
