Wind Warnings Throughout Southern California

The National Weather Service issued wind warnings throughout Southern California Monday night with a focus on the Grapevine.

The Weather Service in Oxnard seemed to be particularly concerned for the safety of motorists traveling Interstate 5 from the Santa Clarita Valley to points north.   Many of the Service’s wind reporting stations were blowing significant numbers.

The strongest winds overnight were expected to blast across the mountains of Santa Barbara, Ventura and Los Angeles Counties with wind gusts between 50 and 60 mph likely.

Gusty northerly winds will be felt through Tuesday.

The Service said "strong surface pressure and thermal gradients will continue to create gusty north winds across" Southern California overnight.

The strongest winds overnight were expected to blow across the mountains of Santa Barbara, Ventura and Los Angeles Counties with wind gusts between 50 and 60 mph likely.

Winds have push up surf to 8 feet at some west facing beaches.
