Flash Flood Warning Issued, Power Outage Hits Thousands

The National Weather Service issued a Flash Flood Warning for central San Diego County Monday afternoon.

The area included in the warning includes but is not limited to Pauma Valley. Nearly 11,000 customers in Escondido experienced a power outage after lightning possibly struck down in the area. 

The NWS issued the warning at about 2:30 p.m. It is in effect until 4:15 p.m.

Power to those affected by the power outage in north east Escondido, Dixon Lake and Daley Rnach is expected to be back on by about 5 p.m.

As of 5 p.m., most of the customers had power back.

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall in the area will likely cause flooding of small creeks and streams and county roads.
