Vinyl Makes a Comeback

While the rest of us have launched ourselves into the virtual world of iTunes, there are some who are content with being unable to carry around their entire music collection in their back pocket.

In there era of mp3s and completely digital music, there’s still something extra special about the way a good old record sounds. And for those who crave that sound get one day a year to celebrate their vinyl on Record Store Day.

On April 18, record stores across the country will celebrate that hi-fi sound and local record store M-Theory is participating in a big way. Ever wanted to play foosball with Menomena? Well, you can. Pall Jenkins of Black Heart Procession and Jimmy Lavalle will be guest cashiers too. The Silent Comedy, Dramarama and Anya Marina will also perform.

If supporting local record stores isn’t enough to bring you out, maybe exclusive releases will (on vinyl, of course!). An array of artists from Bob Dylan and Leonard Cohen to Pavement and Sonic Youth will offer new and old songs as well as unique merch that are only available on Record Store Day.

Going to Coachella? Well, coincidentally, Record Store Day is falling right smack in the middle of it, but that doesn’t mean you have to miss out. Tons of Coachella artists will stop by a tent for meet-n-greets and signings on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
