Kearny Mesa has been many things over the years. Once upon a time it was "the" furniture center in San Diego County. Then it went high tech for a few years, with tons of computer stores and even one of the county's biggest karaoke centers. A few years ago, it changed again and became the top destination for the diverse Asian population, with many ethnic stores, restaurants and groceries.
Of course, it's always been a hub for car dealerships and now it's fast becoming "the" place if you're looking for a motorcycle. This weekend is the grand opening of the new San Diego BMW Motorcycle center. It's almost next door to the Fun Bike Center that features a number of motorcycle brands and is just across the freeway from the big Harley Davidson store.
The BMW open house goes from 9 a.m. till about 5 p.m. Sunday. There are a lot bikes to see, barbecue and free sodas for lunch and at 11 a.m. and at 2 p.m. you can catch the 2008 Stuntwars Champion, Chris "Teach" McNeil, doing what has made him famous on the super hot F800S.
