Meet the Guys Behind the Famous Spidey/Obama Comic

Maybe not quite second -- but close -- to actual headlines about the inauguration are all the stories about the Spiderman-meets-President-Elect-Obama comic book issue of "The Amazing Spiderman" (fabulous cover, by the way). The issue -- #583 -- hits the stands on January 14, and Alakazam Comics in Irvine is hosting a visit from the artist and writer behind the comic book read 'round the world.

Beyond our first questions, which maybe no one can actually answer -- how many issues will our president-elect buy, will he keep them in special plastic sleeves to keep the dust away, and does he have a special box just for comics stowed under the bed like all good fan boys? -- we've got others. Todd Nauck, the artist behind the special comic, and Zeb Wells, the writer, are certainly two of the main people that can answer them.

For example, how was the Chameleon chosen as the villain? And was it difficult to come up with a storyline for a real person? Not that Spidey isn't real. Because he is. The pair will be signing autographs for free -- bonus -- and chatting up attendees. Better spin those webs and get swinging to Irvine, Spiderman fans...
