EXPO to Close San Diego Stores

The Home Depot announced it's closing two of its EXPO stores in San Diego Monday. The move is part of a decision by the company to "exit its EXPO business."

EXPO stores are similar to the "orange box" stores in that they provide home improvement supplies but offer extra services like design, installation and custom orders.

The company announced the move will impact 7,000 associates - all connected to the EXPO stores, not The Home Depot stores. The number of those being let go equal approximately 2 percent of the company's total workforce, according to a company release.

The EXPO stores in San Diego at 7803 Othello Avenue and in Encinitas at 1550 Leucadia Boulevard will close over the next two months.

The company vows to complete any construction projects that have been started. "In cases where product has been ordered but the construction project hasn't been started, the Company will refund the price of installation and the design retainer," according to the release.

Customers with questions should contact their local EXPO or one of the Company's call centers at (800) 259-1042 or (800) 797-1745.
