Stop and Smell the Skyline

With all the construction in San Diego in recent years, there's needs to be someone who plays "architect-police." The annual Orchids and Onions Ceremony is happy to take on that role.

San Diegans nominate new design - from landscape to public art - and the nominations are put to an online vote. Which projects make "their heart soar" and which are just plain eyesores?

Tonight, the 2008 winners (Orchids) and losers (Onions) will be announced at the San Diego Hall of Champions in Balboa Park.  The party starts at 5:30 PM with drinks, appetizers and the sounds of The Howlin' Jupiters, who will provide the musical entertainment for the evening.  The Awards ceremony, hosted by Troy Johnson, will begin at 7:30 PM.

The event is open to the public and tickets are still on sale at the door.  General Admission tickets are $40 for SDAF Members and $50 for Non-members.
