Wake Up Early for Snooze

A new restaurant brings new twists to classic breakfast dishes

San Diego takes breakfast pretty seriously. Look for morning eats in America’s Finest City and you’ll find that their numbers are legion.

Adding to the scrumptious list of breakfast favorites is Denver-based restaurant “Snooze, an A.M. Eatery,” which has foraged westward to build its first California restaurant. It’s located in Hillcrest, a San Diego neighborhood where many new restaurants have sprung up in recent months.

“Hillcrest speaks to who we are: vibrant, creative, neighbors, sustainable, delicious” said the restaurant owner Jon Schlegel. “The stepping stones toward Snooze was actually crafted when I was working in La Jolla, so in a way, we're coming full circle.”

The breakfast and brunch joint has plenty of classic dishes, along with a few fresh takes on the first meal of the day.

Snooze is located at 3940 Fifth Ave. and opens Friday, Nov. 18 at 6:30 a.m. For more information visit the Snooze website.
