There will be no more salivating at the TV late at night watching a commercial for Sonic just wishing it didn’t take a tank of gas to slurp down a Cherry Limeade or munch on some Tater Tots.
The time is here for San Diegans to get their own Sonic Drive-In restaurant, but before you rush to Santee, the chances are you have to wait until Monday.
A VIP and ribbon-cutting event with the City of Santee Mayor Randy Voepel is taking place Saturday. On Sunday friends and family are invited to a training day to help new Sonic crewmembers sharpen their skills. The public is invited to the Grand Opening Monday.
The franchise is located at 10515 Mission Gorge Road in Santee.
If you don’t know anything about Sonic, let us enlighten you.
- Customers park in their own drive-in stall and push a red button on the menu board to place orders from their car. (How cool is that?)
- Carhops deliver orders to customers who are in their cars or sitting on the patio.
- Sonic also has its very own radio network customers can enjoy while at the drive-in.
The drive-in will be open from 10 a.m. to 11:30 p.m., April 6-12. Beginning Monday, April 13, the drive-in will begin its regular hours of 5:30 a.m. to Midnight.
