A turkey of an award had gone to a North County woman. She's been named the winner in the search for America's Worst Cook by the American Egg Board.
Ginger Anderson of Oceanside won the 2nd annual contest. Why did she win? Her own husband Daniel told contest organizers about the time she boiled a box of frozen vegetables-- literally, box and all -- in an effort to win his affection.
But there is hope for Anderson. As the winner, she'll travel to New York City, where she will attend cooking classes at the Institute of Culinary Education. Among the lessons will be tips on cooking with eggs.
A 2008 survey from the American Egg Board found that 42 percent of respondents know someone who is in desperate need of cooking skills and 78 percent believe that Americans are worse cooks today than people were 50 years ago.
