Sweet Treat: SD Chocolate Festival

The San Diego Botanic Garden will host their famous Chocolat Festival on May 12

The San Diego Botanic Garden is hosting a seriously sweet event on May 12: Their famous Chocolate Festival.

Chocolate-lovers can indulge from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. by enjoying dozens of delectable chocolate tastings, demonstrations and a flowing chocolate fountain.

The festival is free with paid admission into the Botanic Garden. Ticket to the chocolate tasting can be purchased on site.

Demonstrations at the event will include a one-hour lesson in making a flourless chocolate almond tart, taught by Chef Elizabeth Podsiadlo.

There will also be an “Intro to Cake Pops” demo, where an instructor will teach attendees how to make those trendy little cake pops that are all the rage in the baking world right now.

Finally, a quirky “Desserts on the Grill” demo hosted by Chef Nikki Schaeffer will showcase how to make decadent desserts on a grill, from grilled pound cake to bananas foster.

The family-friendly gathering will also boast crafts and activities for kids, as well as booths from renowned chocolate vendors, including All Things Sweet and Wonderful, Belgium Gourmet, Jer’s Chocolates, Sea Salt Candy Company and The Melting Pot, among others.
