Salute to Service Festival Honors Troops

Hundreds of people will attend the family-fun event on the historic USS Midway flight deck

San Diego will be honoring service members at the 2nd annual Salute to Service Festival on Sunday, Oct. 28.

Hundreds of people will attend the family-fun event on the historic USS Midway flight deck. Families and military personnel will be able to celebrate for hours in one of the most beautiful spots in San Diego.

Band Southbound Jonny and variety act Slower will provide live musical entertainment, while children will be able to play in the Kid’s Fun Zone. And NBC star Bitsie Tullock from the hit show "Grimm" will be attending the event for a meet and greet with service members.

Bring your appetite, too, because free food will be provided by Northgate Market, Souplantation, Pepsi, East Village Tavern & Bowl, Smart Foods, Olive Coast, Slater 50/50 and Jack Daniel's BBQ Sauce.

There's also a chance to win dozens of free prizes. The Salute to Service event will raffle off tickets to a Chargers game, SeaWorld, Legoland, the Holiday Bowl and Poinsettia Bowl -- among others. You could also win a Hawaiian getaway, courtesy of Alaska Airlines and the Kaanapali Resort & Hotel.

The 2nd annual Salute to Service Festival will be held at 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 28 on the USS Midway flight deck. The event is is free for those with a military ID. Free parking will be located at the Navy Pier lot adjacent to the USS Midway Museum.
