Malarkey Preps to Open Second Place

Just seven months after opening Searsucker in the Gaslamp, "Top Chef" contestant Brian Malarkey and Stingaree co-owner James Brennan plan to open a second restaurant in the North County.

The new project, named Burlap, will be located at the corner of El Camino real and Del Mar Heights Road in what's currently a vacant video rental place, according to our media partners at the North County Times.

The menu will be called "Cowboy Asian" with a mix of ranch-style proteins, seafood and Asian dishes, according to the paper.

Expect the restaurant to open its doors in time for the Del Mar horse-racing season this summer.
