Beer Week “Musts”

In just days, we'll be surrounded by beer. Beer tastings, beer pairings, beer releases - beer!

The second San Diego Beer Week starts off Friday, Nov. 5 and offers more than 300 beer-related events over 10 days. A near-impossible feat to make it to all, we agree, so we set out to find recommendations for those events we really must attend.

Here's a list of suggestions from two local experts:

Friday, Nov. 5:
Beer for Breakfast: Kick off the second annual San Diego Beer Week at Stone Bistro and Gardens with Dr Bill Sysak for the Rare Beer Breakfast. All you can eat breakfast and 15 3oz tasters for $55.

Saturday, Nov. 6:
How can you miss the Official Kick-Off Event? The $50 VIP tasting starts at noon at Liberty Station. General admission ($35) starts at 2pm and runs until 6pm. (Enter to win tickets)

Sunday, Nov. 7:
The San Diego Beer Blog suggests you make it to the event celebrating beer that made San Diego famous. Toronado‘ San Diego IPA Blowout will feature of ton of San Diego IPA’s on draft available as pints or smaller tasters to sample more. The perfect antidote to what you did to yourself at the Guild Fest the day before.

Tuesday, Nov. 9:
Add to your collection with one of the week's best "keep the glass" event according to San Diego Magazine's Erin Chambers. Sample some Cajun treats and keep the glass pints at Urge Gastro Pub.

Wednesday, Nov. 10:
Hop on the Wednesday DrinkAbout. Ride a free bus between Hamilton’s, Station, Sea Rocket, Ritual, Blind Lady, Small Bar, Livewire, and Toronado from 7 to 11 p.m.

Thursday, Nov. 11:
At Stone Pint Night you'll get a great souvenir as well as special discounts on Stone brews! Check SD Mag's other picks for great keep-the-glass nights.

Friday, Nov. 12:
Lagers are often overlooked in the craft beer scene, according to the folks at San Diego Beer Blog. El Take it Easy will hold a Craft Lager Fest with Ballast Point Brewing Co. to showcase some of the best craft brewed lagers around.

Sunday, Nov. 14:
The weeklong event comes to a close with an official event at The Beer Garden at The Lodge at Torrey Pines. For $65, you'll get local beer paired with food from local restaurants and chefs.

This is just the tip of the iceberg of course. Check out more suggestions from San Diego Beer Blog or from San Diego Magazine as well as the entire list of events at the official San Diego Beer Week website.
