Speedy Sproles Shows Puppy Love

One of San Diego’s toughest showed off his tender side at the Iams Home 4 the Holidays adoption drive.

Chargers running back Darren Sproles went to the event’s kickoff to help support animal adoption. While Sproles may look intimidating on the field, the Charger actually dotes on an English Bulldog named Biggie and is hoping to help other animals who are not as fortunate to find a home.

Shelters officials said that right now there is a special need for kittens to be adopted.

"We're still unfortunately in what we call our kitten season, so we have a lot of kittens up for adoption, and the adult cats get overlooked," Chula Vista Animal Care Facility spokeswoman Linda Septon said.

The goal of the drive is to get as many pets into loving homes for the holidays as possible. Locally, the drive is headed by the Helen Woodward Animal Center. Nationally, there are 3,000 pet rescue organizations participating in 17 countries worldwide.
