Bluegrass in the Spring Festival: This two-day festival takes place in the ghost town Calico, a small town just east of Barstow.  Developed in 1981, the town is most known most for its connection to silver and the U.S Borax Co. and is now home to unique shops old time attractions.
 
Dates: May 8 & 9
 
What we want to do: Two days of music bluegrass music, live performances, shopping, food and exploration. Notable acts include the Mill Creek Boys and Ricky Nelson Remembered featuring Matthew and Gunnar Nelson.  
 
Costs: Regular admission for Calico begins at $6 for adults and $3 for children. Call ahead for Bluegrass event tickets at (800)-To-Calico.
 
Camping Out: Camping is still available. Fees begin at $25 for non hook-up sites. Electric, electric and water, full hook-up and cabins are also options. Mini-bunkhouses and bunkhouses are also available for larger parties.
