The day before Thanksgiving means booming business for bars and a busy night for police and CHP.
According to many bar and nightclub owners-- the night before Thanksgiving is their best Wednesday night of the year. Many do double the business of an average Wednesday.
That means California Highway Patrol officers will be working hard to keep the roads safe.
"We have what you call a maximum enforcement period for this holiday weekend. That means 80 percent of our officers are going to be deployed over this weekend," said Officer Brian Pennings.
The packed bars may be a result of people looking to get out of the house and de-stress. But bar owners also say it's because a lot of people are back home and excited to reunite with friends.
