New New New Coachella

Roller-skating and roses are fresh. Oh, and that app.

There will be a lot of things you know and remember about Coachella Music & Arts Festival that have stayed the same.

The can-bring-ins and can't-bring-ins are still there, and important as ever. Things like Record Store Day, and the mammoth moving sculptures dotting the grounds. And the heat.

Wait. We take that one back. The 10-day weather for Indio puts the temps in the mid-80s. That's nearly sweater-weather at Coachella, right?

But here are three new quick things, if you're going and you like new:

The Rose Garden. Billed as the fest's "newest" attraction. Flowers and VIP-ing hobnobbing. Already feeling tranquil.

Down & Derby, that tube-sock'd roller party much-associated with Echoplex, debuts. It'll be in the camping area, and you'll roll into the wee smalls. Note: Do not arrive with your own skates. No. Thursday-Saturday, 10 p.m to 3 a.m.

Coachella app for iPhone, which has the overhead maps, which we mentioned liking.
