Anthology's Lineup Features Everything

New Year shows to feature Motown Sound

Jazz headliners, acoustic greats and Motown sounds are on tap at Anthology through the holidays.

McCoy Tyner, Jonatha Brooke, Chris Cain and Bobby Caldwell are some of the listed artists on the calender at the popular supper club in Little Italy.

When Tyner and Philadelphian saxophonist John Coltrane first played together, Tyner was just 17 and Coltrane was still busy making history with Miles Davis' band, according to NPR reporter Sonya Williams. Now at the age of 69,  Tyner has his own act and their playing Anthology Nov. 25 and Nov. 26. All about Jazz.com reports that for the better part of nearly five decades Tyner has remained the most pervasively influential, highly acclaimed, widely imitated jazz pianist in the world.

Also on the schedule are Jonatha Brooke and Glen Phillips of Toad the Wet Sprocket fame. The supper club is also selling tickets to its New Year's Motown Eve.

Anthology plays host to a wide range of musical forms, including jazz, rock, blues, Latin and world music. For information about events and tickets, visit Anthology's Web site.
