8/9 Soak It Up And Sip It Down

LET THE COUNTDOWN BEGIN!: Fun arts and crafts, yummy food vendors, a beer garden and even gigantic stilt walkers! This is what City Fest 2009 has to offer at their 25th anniversary of lighting the beloved Hillcrest sign. Something different to expect from this year’s annual event? It’s the shutdown of the intersection right under the sign that will serve as the host for the Lantern Parade, a Grand Stage featuring a variety of different bands and a Spirit’s garden. The festivities will keep going from noon to 10 p.m. with the lighting of the sign at 9:30 p.m. Go and show Hillcrest some love!

A METHOD TO THEIR MADNESS: If you’re not in church, why not go to a pool party atop a swanky downtown hotel on a Sunday afternoon? The Hard Rock’s weekly Intervention team has invited some special guests to join in on the action for today beginning with electronic duo the Crystal Method accompanied by two other local DJs. So have your intervention this week and say your penance the next because this is one Sunday in the sun you won’t want to miss!

SIP FOR YOURSELF: Want find out what real wine tastes like? Jaynes Gastropub is a firm believer in natural wine and wants to bring the original taste of it back to San Diegans’ “swayed” palates. They intend to do their at her “Wine As Nature Intended It” event, a unique wine dinner that will offer a “farm to table” experience with pairings of 20 natural wines.
