50+ Tastes for $30

One of the hottest tickets in September will be the annual Taste of Downtown event.

Dozens of restaurants will be offering samples of their dishes or cocktails throughout downtown – in Horton Plaza, the Financial District, the Gaslamp and the East Village.

One of the more than 50 vendors participating, Rockin’ Baja Lobster, will be offering up street tacos and the tequila lime shrimp dish.

“It’s a delicious heart attack in a shrimp bowl,” said restaurant spokesperson Sarakate Laverty.

Enjoy a taste from O’Brothers, La Puerta, the Grant Grill, Tilted Kilt or Jsix Restaurant from 5 to 9 p.m. Wednesday. Tasters will get more than 50 bites for the price of a ticket - $30 in advance or $35 at the door.

If that feels like too much of a hike, there’s a free way to get around. Event organizers are offering a complimentary shuttle service for those who would rather munch and ride.

In the 11 years it’s been held, the event has sold out in the past seven years, according to one event spokesperson.
