A black-tie gala event is planned to celebrate cars and one of the greats in racing

What a year it's been! The San Diego Automotive Museum has held a number of events to commemorate the museum's 20th anniversary and it all comes to a close with an exclusive benefit gala to be held Saturday, November 22nd at the U.S. Grant.

The black-tie event will include a wine reception, 3-course dinner, dancing and a silent auction that include the chance to own a piece of history with a 1930 Model A car from the museum's collection.

The event will honor former Ferrari driver, car manufacturer and team owner Dan Gurney, as he becomes the first SDAM Hall of Fame inductee since 2003.

One of only four U.S. born drivers to win a Formula One Grand Prix, Gurney also has the distinction of being the first driver to win behind the wheel of a Formula One, NASCAR, Indy Car and Sports Car.

Gurney is also a co-founder of Championship Auto Racing Teams (CART) and the Long Beach Grand Prix.

The Gala will also mark the debut of an 18K gold model Ferrari Daytona made by Koll Jewelers, which is a detailed replica of the Daytona currently on display in the Museum’s Ferrari exhibit.

Limited seating is still available.  Preferred tickets to the Gala are $200 and VIP tickets are $400. For more information and event tickets, call Faye Levy at 619-398-0307.
