Your Body Is a Wonderland. Really

Curious about your body but too afraid to look for yourself? Want to know what goes on underneath it all but learn it the fun way?

Now you can explore all you want with Gunther von Hagens’ Body Worlds & The Brain -- Our 3-Pound Gem: The Original Exhibition of Real Human Bodies.

For the first time, the San Diego Natural History Museum is bringing you real human bodies -- that’s right, real bodies -- where guests can get a unique and educational look at human anatomy, physiology and health. By using real bodies, guests can actually see the progression of disease in our bodies and get a special in-depth look at the brain, something much more than a college textbook could ever teach you.

“One concept of the exhibition is to show regular anatomy, but in comparison to deceased ones," said Dr. Angelina Whalley, the creative and conceptual designer of Body Worlds. "You can see a heart infraction, a stroke, a smoker’s lung and a non-smoker’s lung.”

The exhibit hopes to create some buzz for the science of anatomy while teaching the public about the effects our lifestyle choices have on our bodies. It runs from March 5 through Oct. 9.
