From petting zoos to pancakes breakfasts to eco-friendly clothes for dogs, it's all at the Carlsbad Village Street Faire May 3.
A crowd of 100,000 is expected for the one day festival. What started as a sidewalk sale 35 years ago has exploded into a gathering of 900 vendors.
With hundreds of booths, it's all about imagination. How about a biker/rock star jacket for Fido? Sandi Hofman was a seamstress for a major department store. Her skills graduated from doll clothes to children's outfits to pet clothing. Her line is called Carousel Kids N' Pets. Or if you want to teach your kids about summer swim safety Kilmer's Swim Time will be there to shared information and show productts available to keep youngsters safe in the water.
"Over the years, this fair has become a tradition for the thousands of people who regularly attend it, " said Ted owen, president and chief executive of the Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce which sponsors the event. "The fair even attracts people from other states who come to town just to shop, eat and enjoy the seaside event."
There will be 50 booths serving barbeque to Thai cuisine.
Complimentary shuttles will run to and from the fair every 20 minutes.Shuttles will pick up and drop off passengers at the Poinsettia Coaster Station and the northwest corner of Sears on Jefferson.
