Kites to Return to Vista

The Public Arts Commission in Vista is investing thousands of dollars into a sculpture program in the hopes it will raise the profile of their city.

The “Kites of Vista” will return with eight artists creating heavy-duty kites in the downtown area. The program is similar to the Urban Trees program in downtown San Diego.

Barring an objection from the City Council, the pieces should be up in time for the Vista Village Chocolate Festival on May 24, according to the North County Times.

This year, the city will give each of the eight artists $1,250, according to the paper.

The sculptures are mounted on poles around the historical downtown and the Vista Village shopping center. When the year is over, they return to the artists, the paper reports.
