The community is invited to join in the festive cheer and meet at the Piazza Natale (Christmas Plaza) which is located on the corner of India and Date Streets in the downtown San Diego neighborhood of Little Italy, to experience a special holiday celebration encompassing music; holiday treats of Italian cookies; hot cider; gift shopping from Little Italy Mercato merchants, which will be selling homemade gift items; and of course, a special 'visitor' from the North Pole!
More than 500 people are expected to join in the festivities and watch as the Christmas tree is lit at 7:15 p.m. to kick-off the season for families, friends, couples, co-workers and even their pets!
All are invited to marvel at the multi-colored lights, decorated shop fronts and a warm, welcoming atmosphere throughout the month of December.

Tree Lighting Ceremony will take place at 7:15 p.m. The tree will continue to be lit nightly at dusk until January 6, 2009.
Where: Piazza Natale on the corner of India and Date Streets. Valet parking will be available starting at 6:00 p.m. in front of Auto Radio Specialist on the corner of India and Cedar Streets, or under the Little Italy sign on India Street between Date and Fir streets.
