The sun, the bay, the boat, the booze, the basset hound.
How does a (sort-of) free Hornblower cruise sound? The ninth annual Pet Rescue Day on the Bay on May 14 kicks off at at 10 a.m. -- just in time for a Bloody Mary. You and your pup will be treated to a one-hour tour with the skyline of America's Finest City for a backdrop.
The price of your ticket: the donation of a new or gently used blanket, which will benefit the animals at the Helen Woodward Animal Center. Donors get a "doggie bag” from Petco with treats, coupons, goodies for you, too.
Last year, Hornblower collected more than 2,000 blankets and towels from hundreds of seafarers who took their dogs for a "sail."
Cruises run through 4:15 p.m. -- don't forget to bring a leash.
