Caitlin Crosby, We Love Your Flawz

The singer and actress has Flawz and flaunts them

She’s 24-years old, has been on TV, has a role in an upcoming movie and has recorded a CD of original music, but if you talk with Caitlin Crosby she'll share with you that her number one passion isn’t acting, writing songs or performing.

Instead, it’s a project she started with actress and fellow child of the industry, Brie Larson, called Love Your Flawz.

Crosby, who you may recognize from her roles on “Malcom in the Middle” and “That 70s Show”, or who you may follow on Twitter, stopped by Radio Sophie 103.7 Tuesday to discuss her upcoming CD, "Flawz."

While she was heading to auditions, Crosby would always write music. Auditions in fact, and the vanity she said she saw every day, spur violent thoughts from the young entertainer.  “I hate auditioning," she said. "It makes me want to punch somebody in the face,” she said.

One single was written out of  frustration over the need to be perfect. Crosby came home upset one day, took off her makeup and looked down at her nails only to see that they were wrecked. At that moment, she started writing the title track.

The effect the entertainment industry has on young women really became apparent to Crosby when she was teaching an acting class and her students reflected some of the messages they receive at auditions.

“I started making them these signs about something unique about you,” she said. “Let’s try altogether, me included, to start a 'Love Your Flawz' revolution.”

She now has hundreds of images and has collected them on a website offering “a place for people to go where they know they can relate and feel better about themselves,” she said. “To try and re-brainwash ourselves in a healthy, good way.”

Does Crosby really have any flaws? It's tough to see any in the talented young woman. Perhaps her obsession with "The Hills" could qualify in some circles.

"Flawz" is available on iTunes and will be released in stores June 23, 2009. Crosby has a CD release party scheduled at Hotel Café in Los Angeles the day before, June 22.
