Art in ‘Plein' Air

Artists station themselves throughout the Torrey Pines Reserve to paint the local scenery

The annual Plein-Air Art Festival takes place at Torrey Pines State Reserve Saturday.

Artists station themselves throughout the reserve to paint the local scenery. Visitors can walk the trails, enjoy food and music while they watch the artists work. There will also take part in a guided nature walk at noon.

Two tours will be offered at the Lodge and Guy Fleming House at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.

This event is in conjunction with The Lodge at Torrey Pines Plein Air Invitational and Celebrate the Craft Nov. 1-2.  Cocktails and a dinner reception with an opportunity to bid on paintings created during the Torrey Pines Plein Air Invitational. Guests will be able to bid on their favorite paintings in a Silent Auction followed by a Live Auction of award-winning pieces. Proceeds benefit the Torrey Pines Reserve Endowment Fund.

On Sunday, November 2, guests of Celebrate the Craft will enjoy a picnic on the Arroyo Terrace at the Lodge. Food stations will feature area growers, vintners and suppliers. The tasting and art auction will run from 11:30 a.m. until 3 p.m. Sunday.
