Have you ever run a 5-K? Have you ever walked one? Have you ever run or walked one wearing snowshoes over a snow covered course? Now is your chance if your answer is no (and it probably is).
It's the 2ND annual Kahtoola's "Snowshoe the Bear" snowshoe race, scheduled for Saturday, February 7Th. Kahtoola, the title sponsor, makes snowshoes and will provide them free to the first 50 competitors who register.
There will be a separate 5K (3.1 miles) and 10K (6.2 miles) race for men and women.
The courses start and finish in Big Bear Village, and, along with the race, there will be dog-sled demonstrations, food and live music. Cash prizes and special trophies will be awarded in both races.
You can register the day of the event but in order to secure your snowshoes free of charge you might want to pre-register.
