NBC 7’s Dave Summers has the latest on the sanitation workers’ strike and the impact its having on the city of Chula Vista.

Chula Vista City Council will hold a special meeting Friday to enact a local state of emergency as trash accumulates throughout the city due to stalled contract negotiations between sanitation workers and their garbage collection company.

The city of Chula Vista is set to declare a public health emergency next week as trash piles up around the city. It comes as people are receiving bills for trash pickup, even though they say their trash and recycling is piling up.
