Firefighters with the Orange County Fire Authority have brought the destructive Coastal Fire down to 90% containment as of Monday morning, just days after the blaze tore through a Laguna Niguel neighborhood.

Three days after the Coastal Fire first sparked on Wednesday in Orange County, hundreds of firefighters continue their work. The fire is now at 40% containment and is 200 acres in size.

Tammie knew she had no choice. She and her family had to flee.

“We saw it on the news, we saw our house completely destroyed,” a Laguna Niguel homeowner told NBC 7’s Melissa Adan.

A devastating fire that scorched through at least 20 homes in Laguna Niguel is continuing to put up a fight against firefighters with hot spots. NBC 7’s Audra Stafford shares the latest from the scene.

A brush fire that burned hundreds of acres along the coast of Orange County was sending smoke into some parts of San Diego County, residents reported Thursday.
