Monday marks a big day for San Diego County businesses as owners anticipate the return to indoor operations – under some modifications, of course.

NBC 7’s Lauren Coronado spoke with a local restaurant and salon to see what changes they made to make their guests safe.

Many local salon owners spent Sunday preparing their space for a rush of customers. Starting Monday, hair salons will be allowed to reopen indoors. Under new state guidelines, barbershops will also be able to resume indoor operations with modifications.

The San Diego City Council voted on Tuesday to allow more businesses to operate outdoors in private parking lots, including gyms and hair salons, as well as houses of worship.

The board has moved forward with a plan to utilize a “safe reopening compliance team.” NBC 7’s Priya Sridhar has details on how it should work.

Many of San Diego’s small businesses have shifted operations outdoors this month but, for some local salons, the move outside just isn’t making the cut.
