Artie Ojeda

Artie Ojeda, Reporter

Emmy and Golden Mic award winner Artie Ojeda is one of San Diego’s longest-tenured reporters and has covered virtually every major news event in the city since joining NBC 7 in 1996.

He’s covered news stories ranging from the 1996 Republican National Convention to devastating wildfires, to the Padres appearance in the World Series. If it’s happened in San Diego, chances are, Artie has covered it.

While Artie’s passion is to make a meaningful difference in people’s lives, it was a report in 2000 that made a fascinating difference in his life.

That’s when a mother, whose child was in need of a liver transplant, was being interviewed live on TV and challenged Artie to run a marathon.

It was life-changing and led to Artie’s passion as a runner. He’s since run 19 marathons, including the Boston Marathon four times, and countless half marathons and other events. Not to mention a 30-pound weight loss.

Artie was raised and educated in San Diego, graduating from San Diego State, San Diego City College and Serra High School in Tierrasanta.

He lives with his wife and dog Theodore (who he adopted after a story on rescue dogs) in Rancho Penasquitos.
