Good thing the wait will be much less than 10,000 days: On Jan. 10 and Jan. 12, 2020, Tool will bring "Fear Inoculum" to Viejas Arena.

The cerebral prog metal quartet, composed of drummer Danny Carey, bassist Justin Chancellor, guitarist Adam Jones and vocalist Maynard James Keenan, has been active since 1990, and they just released their record breaking new album on Aug. 30 -- their first release in 13 years.

That doesn't mean they haven't been playing their previous four studio albums live, however. In January of 2016, the Los Angeles-based band came through Viejas Arena for two nights, and two years before that, they played a March show at Valley View Casino Center.

Not that they care about this much, but they have won three Grammy Awards of the seven for which they have been nominated. Their importance to metal and to music writ large is more difficult to quantify, but their near universal cult and critical acclaim speaks for itself.

That's how you know the pieces fit.

Tool headline Viejas Arena on Jan. 10 and Jan. 12, 2020. Get tickets here starting Nov. 15 at 10 a.m.
