Sounds Like San Diego: June 1

I cannot believe how time flies. It is already the sixth month of this calendar year, and Manchester Orchestra are back touring on their third full-length record! That the Atlanta band has managed to work around the traditional record-label system has been no small feat, but I can say that I've watched the band do everything they could to achieve what they have. This third record, a concept album called Simple Math written from the perspective of 23-year-old vocalist Andy Hull, feels confessional from the beginning and never lets up. The band is performing with Cage the Elephant tonight at Soma, and while Cage will rock you, it is Manchester Orchestra that will grab ahold of you and never let go: "Dear everybody that has paid to see my band/ It's still confusing, I'll never understand/ I acted like an a-- so my albums would never burn/ I'm hungry now, and the scraps are dirty dirt."
