After downloading Dent May's latest, Warm Blanket, I was a little surprised by the sounds. What I was familiar with from the first record was strictly eukele, but I guess while I stopped paying attention, the musician has never stopped evolving and toying with sounds that stretch from indie pop to nouveau disco. Wednesday's show at Soda Bar should prove to be a fun little dance party. Meanwhile, the Casbah welcomes the return of Mr. Tube & the Flying Objects, who disbanded after members moved away and others carried on with other projects. While many of the bands performing at the Casbah's 25-year anniversary date back to the '90s or earlier, Wednesday's lineup is a good representation of the mid-aughts, as Bartender's Bible and Ilya accompany the bill. Sounds like a pretty great hump day to me.
