Sounds Like San Diego: February 24

Ramona Falls will warmly fill the Ken Club on Sunday night with their gorgeous harmonies.

It might not really feel like it in the broad sense, but the way I watch the local music scene ebb and flow, I'd suggest that the economy has come back, at least in some small way. The number of touring acts who brave California's insane gas prices just to escape their freezing winters is ever increasing, and, locally, talent buyers like Tim Mays of the Casbah and Cory Stier of the Soda Bar keep expanding their empires to do shows in other venues when their home venue is too small or already booked. Case in point: Sunday's Soda Ba- produced show featuring Ramona Falls and Social Studies at the Kensington Club. Ten to 15 years ago, the Ken Club was one of only a few places to play a show in San Diego, but with so many venues open now, it can get overlooked as a viable venue. It's a shame, too, because I love the Ken Club and like the idea of the venue being separated from the bar as it is. Ramona Falls will warmly fill the room with their gorgeous harmonies, and Social Studies will once again deliver a great performance in San Diego, and the Ken Club will feel like you never left.
