I don't think there are suddenly more women in indie rock, but today's singer-songwriters seem to be more savvy and are more willing to stand together than compete with one another. The adage that a rising tide lifts all boats seems to be the M.O. of many of these ladies, and if you follow their tours and their social media accounts, you can see and feel the love and camaraderie among artists. The bond Lucy Dacus has with Phoebe Bridgers and Julien Baker, for example, makes you wanna be part of their friendship circle. Tonight, Lucy Dacus plays a solo headlining gig at Belly Up, and she's got some great women as her support acts. If you had the chance to catch her last two Casbah shows, you already know just how amazing she is, but if you missed them, now is your chance to rectify that. Around town, Chameleons Vox feature original Chameleons frontman and composer Mark Burgess, long considered one of the most underrated bands of the Manchester scene, and Saintseneca bring the heavy indie folk vibes to Soda Bar.
