TOUR DE CURE in San Diego April 17th

The ride of your life… Tour de Cure is set to take off April 17, 2010 in San Diego, California at Mira Costa College on the Cardiff Campus.  Tour de Cure is a series of fundraising cycling events held in 43 cities to benefit the American Diabetes Association.  This isn’t your ordinary race though; in fact it’s not a race at all!  The tour is a ride with routes to accommodate everyone from the infrequent rider to the skilled.  Whether you ride ten miles or one hundred there will be rest stops, delicious snacks to keep your body going, and of course fans cheering you along the way.

If you are an individual living with diabetes, Type 1 or Type 2, you can sign up to become a Red Rider.  Any rider who raises $150.00 will receive a free Red Rider jersey.  Their goal this year is not only to raise awareness and find a cure, but also to encourage people living with diabetes to be visible and proud.  This ride is meant to be a celebration of the courage and perseverance those living with diabetes.

Last year with 40,000 cyclist and 80 Tour events there was nearly 17 million dollars raised in support of the ADA.  This year they are expecting 1200 riders and 200 volunteers in San Diego alone.  So whether you decide to form a corporate team, get a group of friends or family together, or venture it by yourself you can be sure to be given a day to remember and help a fighting cause.  For more information on the Tour de Cure, please visit www.tour.diabetes.org.
