We Love Marty!

NBC 7/39’s beloved news anchor, Marty Levin will officially retire at the end of May.  His last 11:00 PM newscast will be on May 26, 2010.  Marty has been with the KNSD family since 1987, and with nearly 40 years of journalism under his belt, Marty’s career has afforded him a rock solid reputation of a highly respected journalist, whose professionalism and journalistic integrity measure no less than world-class.

Marty’s love for the news business is more about the craft and less about the publicity; his humility and character are as admirable as his excellence in his work.  Marty’s collection of awards, credentials and honors tell the story of a long, diverse and prideful career.  From Presidential inaugurations, national political conventions to Super Bowls, Marty’s journalistic contributions are perhaps matched only by his dedication to the local community.   Marty has been recognized by many organizations for his community efforts, including: Peacemakers, Association of Fundraising Professionals, and San Diego Magazine.  Although Marty leaves the desk to the highly capable NBC 7/39 news team, don't be surprised to see Marty making a special guest appearance at our news desk in the future, to help out on the big stories.

While his station family is sad to see him go, we are very excited to celebrate the career of this man who has become a local icon.  Join us in wishing Marty the best that retired life has to offer!

In true Marty fashion he requests that any gifts you are inclined to give, be donated to Rady Children's Hospital, an organization near and dear to Marty's heart.  To donate to RCH in Marty’s honor, CLICK HERE
