Tila Tequila May Join “Celebrity Rehab,” If There Is One

Given what we know about Hollywood and what we know about famous people in general, it’s hard to believe that VH1 would have trouble rounding out a cast for their “Celebrity Rehab” reality show. But you don’t recruit Tila Tequila to be on your show without reeking of desperation, so it’s pretty clear that “Celebrity Rehab” is having issues of its own. TMZ (yes, yes, we know. Take it with a grain of salt) reports that VH1 is running out of celebrity famemongers/drug addicts to cast and reached out to Tequila to join up.

Tila Tequila is finally seeking professional help -- TMZ has confirmed through multiple sources that the bisexual reality star has committed to do the next season of VH1's "Celebrity Rehab" ... if it doesn't get canceled first.

It's unclear what personal demon Tila will try to conquer with the help of Dr. Drew -- but it certainly won't be her addiction to attention.

But there's one major catch -- as we previously reported -- VH1 is having problems finding other "celebrities" to rehabilitate ... and if they don't find a cast quick, the show could be killed.

So far, no word on who else the show has its sights set on.

This is the part where I take Drew Pinsky to task for casting Tequila on his show when it’s obvious to anyone who knows anything that Tequila has absolutely no intention of being rehabilitated and is only interested in going on the show so that she can stay on TV. It’s BEYOND obvious, and I find it funny that Dr. Drew, who’s so supposedly responsible, would indulge such a blatant attention grab. Dr. Drew makes himself look good by surrounding himself with nutjobs on TV and “fixing” them. But Tila Tequila has no interest in being fixed, and I bet you Dr. Drew probably knows that.

That’s why VH1 is having trouble finding new D-list addicts in a town LOADED with them. No one who really wants to get better would do so with a camera present, or in the care of a doctor who secretly loves being on camera just as much as they do, if not more so. If you want to see a real show about addiction, I strongly advise you to check out A&E’s “Intervention,” which will scare you to death. It’s no coincidence you won’t find Dr. Drew appearing on it.

Tequila was for a time embroiled in dueling lawsuites with Charger Shawne Merriman.

Merriman was arrested by sheriff's deputies Sept. 6, 2009, after Tequila accused him of battery and false imprisonment at his suburban San Diego home.

Prosecutors declined to charge Merriman but Tequila, whose real name is Tila Nguyen, filed a lawsuit that alleged the linebacker choked her. Merriman sued for international interference with a contract, claiming the controversy delayed a T-shirt business he was negotiating with Wal-Mart Stores Inc.

Tequila attorney Cyrus Nownejad would not disclose terms of the settlement in February. Neither would Merriman attorney Andrew Skale, who said the dispute was resolved amicably.
