Anthropologist Hjörtur Smárason has a McDonald's cheeseburger with two claims to fame: He says it's "The Last McDonald's Cheeseburger sold in Iceland," and so far, it still looks good enough to eat.
He bought the burger in October 2009, when the American burger chain shuttered its Icelandic restaurants. Smárason kept the cheeseburger combo under wraps for three years, until he took a peek and was surprised to find the meal looked as fresh as the day he bought it, according to "Today."
Now, McDonald's says there's a perfectly normal explanation for this – food stored without moisture in the food or environment may not decompose – but Smárason's live video of the pristine-looking burger and fries is attracting attention anyway.
