Apple, Eminem Make a Deal Over iTunes

A lawsuit between Eminem's music publisher and Apple Inc. has been settled after five days of trial in federal court in Detroit.

The dispute centered on who had the right to authorize downloads of the hip-hop star's music on Apple's iTunes service. Aftermath Records has rights to the recordings, but Eight Mile Style claimed that did not entitle the record label to make a deal with Cupertino, Calif.-based Apple without its approval.

Eight Mile lawyer Richard Busch declined to disclose details of the settlement Friday. He says a deal was reached Thursday night.

A message seeking comment was left with the lawyer for Apple and Aftermath.

Eight Mile is owned by brothers Jeff and Mark Bass, songwriters and producers who are credited with launching Eminem's career.
