White To Miss BYU Game

Billy White hasn't missed a shot in two games, now it looks like he'll miss the Aztecs next couple of games with a knee injury.

The sophmore forward suffered a hyper-extended left knee in Saturday's 26 point loss at New Mexico.  Head Coach Steve Fisher said an MRI showed no ligament damage, but a lot of swelling in the back of White's knee.

"He's definitely out for the BYU game tomorrow night," said Fisher.  "This isn't going to be a miracle recovery, like Richie Williams had a couple of weeks ago. We're hopeful Billy will respond to treatment, but I'm not sure if he'll even travel with us to TCU this weekend."

White is the Aztecs third leading scorer averaging around ten points game, but he leads the team in blocked shots.

"Billy is our most athletic player," according to senior Lorenzo Wade. "He intimidates people in the paint, but I think we have enough guys that will go in his place. Hopefully, he won't be out a long time."

The Aztecs are in a three-way tie for second in the Mountain West Conference, and one of those teams is BYU.  The Cougars topped San Diego State 77-71 earlier this season.

"They're a very good offensive team," proclaimed Fisher. "We're going to need an incredible effort, and I think we'll get one."

The Aztecs are two games behind first place Utah with four games left.
