Toreros Pound Western Carolina

USD wins 4th straight game.

Baseball people will tell you hitting is contagious.  One guy starts to swing a hot bat, it just trickles down the entire lineup.  That was the case for the the 11th-ranked Toreros on Tuesday at Cunningham Stadium.  USD outscored Western Carolina 14-7 in a game that wasn't even as close as the final score indicated (I know, there are lots of cliches in this story!).

The Toreros scored six runs in the first inning, four of them on one swing.  After three straight infield singles loaded the bases, Victor Sanchez smashed a grand slam, his 3rd home run of the season.  Steven Chatwood also went deep.  He hit his first collegiate homer in the 6th inning, part of a 4-hit day.

USD improves to 7-3.  They open a 4-game set against San Diego State on Thursday afternoon.
